While a referral is not necessary to access psychological services, you do need a referral from a GP to be eligible for Medicare Rebates. Medicare subsides up to 10 of your therapy visits each calendar year. You receive approximately 50% of the consult fee back. Fees: $260 per 50 minute session, Rebate: $136.35.
